- What To Expect
During our first appointment:
The 1st appointment is usually about 1.5 hours and can be up to 2 hours. It depends on whether we are doing acupuncture or homeopathy on how long it may be. During the first consultation, I review the medical records you have provided me (at least 48 hours prior to the appointment) and we discuss my viewpoint holistically on what has been done in the past and what is going on now. I will perform a physical exam with either modality. If doing acupuncture, I will do a treatment most likely using needles or other gentler tools if necessary. If we are pursuing homeopathy, then we will dive deep into your companion’s history both physically and emotionally/mentally as well. I will make suggestions for improving diet and environment and any supplements that may help along the way.
With initial homeopathy consultations for chronic conditions, I do not prescribe right there. I need to analyze all the information and find the right remedy that suits your pet’s picture as best as possible. This takes a lot of time so it can take up to 14 days before I prescribe a remedy to start the healing. Acute conditions are different and I often prescribe right at the appointment or let you know later that day which remedy, potency and frequency you should give. You can get most of the common remedies at your natural food stores or I recommend you getting an emergency kit to have on hand for both you and your furry compadres. Follow up appointments for acupuncture are up to an hour in person while homeopathic follow-ups are most often over the phone and are 15-30 minutes.

Your Animal
You will be asked to gather information about your animal for each appointment or email update. Your detailed observations help me prescribe the most accurate remedies or supplements or acupuncture points and help me understand whether we are working in a curative direction or if something needs to change. Homeopathy especially requires you to be an active participant in the process of healing your animal. Keeping a simple spiral notebook as a journal will help you stay organized. Enter any notes, questions, treatments and observations and also anything major going on in yours or your family’s life that may be affecting your pet as well. Please have this on hand whenever we speak to expedite our time together and for you to take notes. If doing an acupuncture treatment, I usually need you help to either hold or distract your pet with petting and treats to keep the process going smoothly and with as little stress as possible. Often, once I have stopped placing needles, there is usually an obvious relaxion response.
& YOUR ALLOPATHIC, GENERAL, REGULAR VET
While undergoing treatment, it is very important that I be made aware of any changes that occur after the homeopathic remedies are given. If any situation arises, even if it seems unrelated
to the original problem, I need to know about it. These reactions may be the first signs of
healing. Interference of our treatments with allopathic medications from your regular
veterinarian may abort or hinder our progress. However, if you are very worried about your
animal, please go to your emergency clinic or regular veterinarian. Leave me a message, and I
will call as soon as I am able.
It would be a good idea for you to have a general vet for diagnostics because me practice is limited. However, with both acupuncture and homeopathy, it is not absolutely necessary to have a diagnostic name for your pet’s problems. I use their unique symptoms to find what acupuncture points may benefit them or what remedies fit even if we can’t get an exact diagnosis. Just remember to keep me updated on any changes in your animal’s symptoms or medications or new diagnostics.
